“Conventional methods fail to explain the ability of blue Pseudomonas fluorescens strains to cope with environments containing hydrogen peroxide, possibly owing to the heterogeneity of the system. Hydrophilic pyoverdine, the most represented siderophore of P. fluorescens, is immobilized on peculiar iron oxide nanoparticles and investigated as the electrocatalytic partner of a hydrophobic blue bacterial pigment. The molecular combination results in a selective H2O2 scavenger, revealing a hidden redox mechanism. Synthesis of 12-<i>epi</i>-Protopanaxadiol and Formal Synthesis of Ginsenoside Chikusetsusaponin-LT<sub>8</sub>

For the total synthesis of protopanaxadiol: (1) an optically active trienic epoxide was submitted to Ti-(III)-mediated radical cascade to afford an original 6/6/8/5 tetracyclic structure; (2) using a “ring-by-ring” synthesis gave access to 12-epi-protopanaxadiol. 20-Hydroxydammar-24-ene-3,12-dione was also synthesized, which represents a formal synthesis of chikusetsusaponin-LT8, isolated from Panax japonicus.

Incorporation of PdCl<sub>2</sub>P<sub>2</sub> Complexes in Ni-MOF for Catalyzing Heck Arylation of Functionalized Olefins

Ni-MOF {[Ni8(OH)4(OH2)2(L)6]n} was used as a support for two palladium complexes of PdCl2P2 type [P = tri(1-piperidinyl)phosphine and triphenylphosphine]. The new Pd@Ni-MOF composites catalyzed the Heck arylation of estragole by iodobenzene to the corresponding stilbene with high efficiency. In contrast, more bulky eugenol was not activated under these conditions.

Electrochemical C-H bond selenylation of (hetero)arenes: By using an electrochemical oxidative C(sp2)-H selenylation of activated arenes approach, the desired selenylated products were regioselectively obtained in good to excellent yields. A Novel Catalyst-Free Synthesis of 2,2-Diaryl Enamides from Stilbenes via a Nitrene Transfer Reaction

An unexpected nitrene transfer from iminoiodinane to stilbene in absence of catalyst has been described, directly giving a series of 2,2-diaryl enamides in 28-75 % yields. This reaction involved aziridination, ring-opening of aziridine, and aromatic rearrangement, in which iminoiodinane played a dual role.

Transition-Metal-Free Dehydrogenative N-N Coupling of Secondary Amines with KI/KIO<sub>4</sub>

Iodine brother do it together: With KI/KIO4, a transition-metal-free dehydrogenative N-N coupling of secondary amines has been accomplished. A diverse range of diphenylamines, carbazoles, and N-alkylanilines readily undergo N-N homo-coupling effectively. Notably, the N-N cross-coupling of two different arylamines is also demonstrated, providing a straightforward approach to complex N-N structures.

Regioselective Synthesis of 1,4,5-Trisubstituted-1,2,3-Triazoles from Aryl Azides and Enaminones

Total regioselective synthesis of 1,4,5-trisubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles has been achieved from aryl azides and enaminones. The reaction consists of a cascade starting with a water-promoted 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition followed by a base-promoted retro-aza-Michael reaction. DFT calculations support the mechanism.

Photocatalytic Transformation of Amines to Imines by Meso-Porous Copper Sulfides

A to I: A visible-light-driven catalytic procedure to transform amines to imines using mesoporous copper sulfide has been demonstrated here. Surface chemistry of this heterogeneously catalyzed process was investigated using various spectroscopic methods, reaction kinetics, and by determining reactive oxygen species. The plausible reaction mechanism was found to be consistent with the reaction energies determined by Density-Functional -Theory calculations.

Nitrogen-Doped NiO Nanosheet Array for Boosted Electrocatalytic N<sub>2</sub> Reduction

It's dope! A nitrogen-doped NiO nanosheet array on carbon cloth (N-NiO/CC) exhibited enhanced NRR performance with a NH3 yield of 22.7 μg h−1 mg−1 and an FE of 7.3 % in 0.1 M LiClO4 at −0.5 V (vs. RHE), far superior to those of undoped counterparts (NiO/CC). DFT calculations revealed that the N-doping could induce enhanced surface conductivity and an upraised d-band center, leading to promoted *NNH stabilization, a reduced reaction energy barrier, and thus improved NRR performance.

In-situ Growth of a Bimetallic Cobalt-Nickel Organic Framework on Iron Foam: Achieving the Electron Modification on a Robust Self-supported Oxygen Evolution Electrode

Double doping: The cobalt and nickel double-doped materials in-situ grown on Fe foam exhibited an excellent electrocatalytic activity and remarkable durability with a current density of 10 mA cm−2 in a 0.1 M KOH solution with the overpotential of 264 mV and the Tafel slope of 54.3 mV dec−1. The improved OER performances were benefited from the synergy effect of electrons derived from the multi-metal and the enhanced adhesion between the MOFs and the conductive substrate.
